City centre walk

Stadskern Oostende On and within the line of the old Ostend city banks (levelled from 1865) you get to know the heart of the modern sea city which presents apart from its current touristic infrastructure also its glorious past.
This heart beats between the Hendrik Serruyslaan, the Albert I-Promenade, the fishing quay ‘Visserskaai’ and the Vindictivelaan.

Leopold II This walk is situated along the realizations and dreams of the Belgian King who gave Ostend its prestige. The Ostend Leopold II story is told through his amorous and Congo adventures and perceptible Bell Epoque memories.

Fishing quay (Visserskaai) walk

Vistrap Oostende A walk near the westside of the harbour channel with historical and current witnesses (references). Fascinating aspects of the age-old harbour and fishing activities: coastal vessels, the building of “DAB Vloot” and the Westerstaketsel or Western Pier, the Mercator Marina and the North Sea Aquarium.

James Ensor walk and the Ensor House

James Ensor This walk follows the track of Ostend’s most famous artistic son James Ensor. You visit his favourite places in the city centre and the house where he last lived, the Ensor House.

The Ensor House will be closed from 05/11/2017. Reopening expected in the summer 2018.

Erfgoed met smaak This renewed city park with recreational part, its biotope and historic landscape garden. After its recent renovation this inheritance of King Leopold II evolved from “Bois de Boulonge” to one of the most beautiful city parks of Flanders (40 ha).

Information & conditions

A standard walk usually takes 2 hours. You can ask for a shorter walk or choose a shorter visit.

For a standard walk of two hours you pay € 70,00. Each additional hour will cost & 35,00. Prices for walks or visits which take less than 2 hours will be agreed at reservation.

The applicant can always cancel his reserved walk for free three days before the guided tour. Later cancellation: in this case the applicant will pay the costs of the organisator:
- cancellation 1 or 2 days before the guided tour; & 15,00/guide
- cancellation on the same day or when a group does not show up - the full price of the guided tour will be charged.
The guide will wait for the group up to 60 minutes after the time of reservation.

For you and our guides’ comfort we accept maximum 25 people per group. Do you come with a exceptional large group? No worries, the Ostend guides society has enough experience and qualified guides.
