On board the 'Albatross', from the 'Captain Blue' shipping company, you will sail to Thorntonbank and the guide will instruct you about the fascinating history of the North Sea and of navigation, fishing, sand mining, buoys, nautical charts, knots and nautical miles, types of ships, sandbanks, tides and currents ... After 2 hours of navigation, the ballet hundreds of airfoils of the imposing horizontal axis wind turbines surprises us, an incredible example of technical sophistication and sustainable energy.

“The Crystal Ship Art Festival”

More than 40 national and international artists participated in "The Crystal Ship" Public Art Festival. They created gigantic murals in the city. All of these works are on permanent display. The works form an artistic journey through the inner and outer suburbs of Ostend. In its genre “The Crystal Ship - Public Art Festival” is the biggest festival in Europe.

“Ostend 1914-1918”

This bicycle tour is part of the commemoration of the centenary of the “Great War” and takes you through a number of notable historical places. Along the way, we get acquainted with the historical context of Ostend during the Great War: the importance of the port of Ostend and the coastal defense, the flow of refugees, etc. As you travel through the sites of the First World War, the guide will tell you powerful stories about, among other things, the obstacles on the foreshore, U-boats in the Vlotdok or the Tirpitz Battery.The route takes you along the sea wall, Fortresq Napoleon, Spuikom and Groen Lint (the green ribbon) around Ostend.

From Casino-Kursaal to Stene-Dorp

The bicycle tour starts at the Casino-Kursaal. Our guide will lead you via the Albert I promenade to the Royal Galleries, the library site, the Petit Paris intersection and the Royal Stables at the sports center. Afterwards the guide will take you via the Koninginnelaan and the "Soldatenberg" to the "New Town", the cemetery and via the sports park in the center of Stene-Dorp. As this tour is not in a loop, the guide will indicate serveral options for returning to the starting point.

“The green ribbon”

The green ribbon connects the green spaces that surround Ostend. Discover many great places to take a break. Along the route you will discover poems by Peter Verhelst. The 35 km trail is marked, both with signs and on the ground, but the guide will keep you on the 'straight path'.

The suburbs of Ostend by bus”

During this trip, the city by the sea will reveal its charms to you. You will notice that the variety abounds: the old city center, number of royal buildings, the racecourse, the Mariakerke and Raversijde districts with the former Prince Charles estate, today the Provincialestate Raversyde, the airport, Stene, the park Maria-Hendrika and the port facilities on the east side; then urbanization on the east shore, industrial fishing and windmills, Fort Napoleon in the dunes and back to the marina, the Mercator sailboat near the shopping center.

Villa Les Zéphyrs, Middelkerke

“Les Zéphyrs” is a listed villa from the interwar period. You can find out how a family from the 1930s spent their summer holidays on the Belgian coast. The building has been restored and renovated as part of the Coastal Histories project. The design of the villa dates back to a 1910 concept signed by the famous Ghent architect Oscar Van de Voorde.

Information & conditions

A standard walk usually takes 2 hours. You can ask for a shorter walk or choose a shorter visit.

For a standard walk of two hours you pay € 70,00. Each additional hour will cost € 35,00. Prices for guided tours or visits which take less than 2 hours will be agreed upon at reservation.


For you and our guides’ comfort we accept maximum 25 persons per group.
In case you are with an exceptional large group. No need to worry, the Ostend guides society has enough experienced and qualified guides.
